Wildfire Aware Situation Report: Weather Discussion
Provided by the National Interagency Fire Center

Scattered to widespread showers and thunderstorms will continue across much of the West, with heavier rainfall and flooding risk spreading farther north as remnants of Hilary track northward. Relatively warm and dry conditions are likely in Washington and western Oregon just beyond the moisture plume. Gusty winds will spread over much of the Great Basin, with drier and breezy conditions continuing over portions of New Mexico, Colorado, eastern Utah, eastern Arizona, and into Wyoming. Hot, dry, and breezy conditions will also continue on much of the southern and central Plains through Texas and the Lower Mississippi Valley, with dry post-frontal conditions expected across much of the Southeast. Well above normal temperatures will remain over much of the Plains into the Midwest and Southeast. Isolated to scattered thunderstorms are likely along the Gulf Coast, with showers and thunderstorms from northern Minnesota into northern Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Gusty winds are likely to continue in the Alaska Interior but will be accompanied by showers and cooler temperatures, with a warming and drying trend from south-central Alaska through the Panhandle.
Red Flag Warnings are in effect from Central Texas into southern Mississippi, in Northeastern Colorado, and parts of Wyoming. The Storm Prediction Center has issued an Elevated Fire Weather area for Central Texas and the Wyoming and Central High Plains. There is a Critical Fire Weather area for portions of Central Texas.
